We all start somewhere!
When I heard Gen Z was getting nostalgic about 2016, I had to laugh… because to me, that feels like yesterday. And yet also somehow a whole lifetime ago. 😂 🤣 😅
Looking back, 2016-Becky was doing her absolute best.
She was trying so hard. Saying yes to everything. Searching for the perfect plan, the right routine, the ideal (hyper-productive, uber-successful, insert-superaltive-here) version of herself.
- 🏃♀️ She was active, but not training with any real purpose.
- 🥗 She bounced between fad diets, more from fear+shame than from curiosity or a growth mindset.
- 📉 She wanted big, fast change, mostly in ways that focused on being smaller, not stronger.
Fast-forward 10 years, and the biggest change isn’t what I look like; it’s how I approach the process of growth.
- 📈 These days, I train progressively with far more intensity and with long timelines in mind.
- 💪 I build strength slowly + intentionally.
- 🔄 I focus on habits I can repeat forever and cultivating a growth mindset, not on extremes I can only sustain for a few weeks.
I trust boring consistency more than exciting overhauls.
I care less about chasing the next fix, and more about building real capacity: physically and mentally.
Back then, I was working hard to change into someone different. ➡️ Now, I’m working steadily to become more of myself.
I couldn’t have predicted this version of my life from where I stood in 2016…and I also couldn’t have skipped the lessons I learned along the way that got me here. 📚
All of which makes me curious (& excited) about what the next 10 years might hold, knowing that what I practice now is shaping my future.
Where were you 10 years ago? And what kind of growth are you building toward?
