NSCA Speaker Adventure!
Just coming off a whirlwind trip to Colorado Springs to film a talk for the 2026 NSCA Virtual Personal Trainers Conference. 💃
Just 5 short years ago, I was starting out as a new trainer, certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. This was actually the first conference I “attended” in my new industry and I always have learned so much from it, so it was a very full-circle moment to be flown out to NSCA HQ to be a speaker! 💫
Part of why I originally chose to get my certification through @NSCAofficial was its commitment to evidence-based practice and continuing education to raise the standard for personal training globally. It took me a full year to self study my way to the NSCA-CPT, as someone without a background in anatomy or exercise science, and I love that, because it speaks volumes of the rigor of the organization and the high standard it holds for its members.
As a former teacher, ongoing education is always a priority for me. So, when I was invited to speak, I was incredibly honored to be entrusted to develop an educational talk to share with my peers, and absolutely jumped at the opportunity!
The topic I chose to dive into is a timely one—your GPS to navigate the GLP-1 era—and dive in I did! This talk represents years of personal and professional development and following industry trends, months of deeper research to identify key studies and findings, and weeks of synthesizing it all and streamlining it into a 40 minute talk and slides! I rehearsed until it felt natural, knowing that I really wanted it to be as accessible and comprehensible as possible for trainers, and I’m so glad I did, because when those cameras rolled, the nerves hit big time. 😬
Still, I’m very happy with how it all went, and so proud of myself for taking on such a big challenge just five years into my career change. I’ll share more about the talk and topic in the weeks and months to come before the conference airs this fall, but for now, I’ll just say this: stay open, stay curious, and keep learning and growing; you truly never know where your journey will take you! 💪
