Simple Strategies for Better Mornings ☀️
Have you ever heard that going to bed early is how adults sleep in? 🥱
Today I’m sharing a few simple strategies I use to have better mornings, especially when I’m in a season of life that requires a lot of focus and productivity! You can find the full version of this clip over on YouTube, where I’m starting to share longer-form content (because this girl can talk and she does not not tend to be brief 😅) - but, in short, at least for me:
☀️ Better Mornings:
- start the night before with a consistent wind-down routine to promote high quality sleep as well as enough quantity
- “eating the frog” so to speak, or biting off the hardest tasks I most want to avoid first, then breaking up focused work blocks with mindful movement (ideally in the sunshine to set circadian rhythm)
- that movement usually helps me tune into my body, to assess how it’s feeling that day, and connect to my breath,
- and breathing and feeling connected to my body in turn naturally leads to a mindful pause, where I might intentionally practice gratitude, do some meditation, or set an intention for what a great day ahead might look like!
Yes, you can get fancy and do a cold plunge or hop in a sauna or dunk your entire face in an ice bath of sparkling water like some biohacking bros like to do…but, I honestly think the simple stuff works great! 😅
Don’t fall for the lie that you need a trillion-step morning routine to have a great day. Too often, the fitness industry and influencers lose the forest for the trees in trying to optimize pebbles and sand, without first addressing the big rocks of sleep, stress, and recovery in place to set the stage for better mornings.
How are your mornings feeling lately? What’s one simple strategy you’d like to try to make them just a bit better? ✨
