Hungry all the time? Try This!

If you're trying to eat better in the new year and experiencing feeling hungry all the time...I have good news for you!

Extreme hunger usually isn’t a lack of willpower; it’s a lack of fuel.

If you’re constantly thinking about food, feeling hungry an hour after your meals, or feeling “bottomless,” your body is likely asking for more energy upfront, not more control.

This breakfast is bigger than many people expect...on purpose. Eating enough early in the day helps you get ahead of hunger instead of chasing it all afternoon and into the evening.

Here are 3 simple principles I try to incorporate into my daily meals that you might find easy to digest (no pun intended)

1️⃣ Eat ENOUGH (total energy availability matters)

  • Undereating earlier often shows up as intense hunger later.
  • A larger, well-balanced breakfast can actually make eating feel easier the rest of the day.

2️⃣ Prioritize Protein AND Fiber

  • Protein helps with fullness and appetite regulation.
  • Fiber slows digestion, supports gut health, and keeps blood sugar steadier.
  • Together protein and fiber provide way more staying power than either in isolation.

3️⃣ Don’t fear carbs

  • Carbs are your body’s preferred energy source, especially if you’re active.
  • Paired with protein, fat, and fiber, they support stable energy rather than glucose spikes.

This isn’t a perfect breakfast. It's not low-carb, low-calorie...it’s functional fuel...and yes, that includes a few fun toppings because food should still be enjoyable!

If you've tried intermittent fasting (whether it comes naturally due to minimal morning hunger, or as a dietary strategy that feels a little forced)...you might want to pause and ask yourself how that's going for you. 🤔

If hunger feels chaotic and uncontrollable, the answer is often simpler than you think:

  • 👉 Eat enough (at regular, predictable intervals)
  • 👉 Pair protein with fiber
  • 👉 Stop fearing carbs
  • 👉 Trust yourself to take care of yourself - you know better than anyone how you feel + what you need. Don't let fear run the show.

Sometimes the most regulating thing you can do…is eat a little more on purpose. 🤷‍♀️
