Motivation Doesn’t Matter (Take Action Anyway!)
Feeling that post-Thanksgiving food coma hangover? 😴
No worries, you are certainly not alone! And, even better...
No need to wait for motivation to magically show up. Try this:
👟Just put on your shoes and step outside.
- Worst case? you get a little sun, but…don’t be surprised if you take a little walk, get some steps & feel less stressed or sleepy!
🚙 Just drive to the gym. (at-home version: just put on your workout clothes)
- At the very least you got up and moving & ran an errand. If you happen to step foot inside the gym...all the better!
• 💪 Tell yourself you’ll do one bicep curl with 5 lb. - Listen...you can at least say you did something (always better than nothing)! And...if that 5lb curl becomes your warm-up set and you do a bit more - win!
Here’s the secret fit people know 🤫
Action often comes before motivation, not the other way around!
So, act the way you want to feel, and then stay open and curious. Momentum (and maybe even motivation) often follow!
- 💡 Small actions create momentum.
- 💪 Action is empowering, energizing, and satisfying.
- 📈 Best of all? Action is Evidence
And evidence is data. That data helps drive your next best choice.
Maybe post-walk it sounds good to hydrate. Perhaps after that gym visit a recovery meal prioritizing protein is easier to get in!
The point is: you won’t always feel like doing the thing that’s best for you. 🤷♀️ Do it anyway. ✅
Then - and this is key - notice how you feel afterwards.
Rewards-based learning (aka habit formation) is so much easier than trying to force yourself to be disciplined and perfect day in and day out. This is how your brain learns what “better” feels like..
